Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Trusts and chairman emeritus of the Tata Group, will be the keynote speaker at TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Silicon Valley annual conference, TiEcon 2021, scheduled for May 6 through 8.
TiE Silicon Valley is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and help create an entrepreneurial ecosystem under one roof for C-level executives, investors, and entrepreneurs.
This will be the second time the conference, TiE Silicon Valley’s signature event, will be a virtual one due to the ongoing pandemic.
Anand Akela, chair of TiEcon 2021, told indica News that though the core objective is fostering entrepreneurship, the theme of this year’s conference is “Emerge. Engage. Elevate.” and the entire event is designed around it .
“We are emerging from the pandemic and providing a platform to the entrepreneurs and the ecosystem to engage with leaders and subject matter experts to help them and their companies elevate to the next level,” Akela, who served as TiEcon marketing chair past year, explained about the theme of this year’s event.
Asked what the biggest concerns and challenges were, he said: “Last year we had around 7,800 attendees and this year we are expecting more than 10,000 attendees. The biggest challenge that I have to design the event content and timing that works best both for the US and global audiences.
“This is why we have the event now spread across three mornings instead of two days like in the past,” Akela added.
It is also challenging, he admitted, to keep a virtual audience engaged for a few hours.
“This is why we are also working on a new event streaming solution that makes virtual engagement more interactive,” said Akela.
Asked if the event roster had been tweaked, he said: “The future of work, whether it is the future of health care, the future of education, or the future of any kind of work, is completely changed as we are emerging out of the pandemic. This is why we have added a new track on the future of work where we will focus on collaboration solutions, digital workspaces, and upskilling solutions.”
In addition, he said, they are looking at various trending technologies such as quantum computing and industries 4.0 in a new track on trending technologies.
He pointed out that networking is one of the key values the TiEcon attendees gain. So, he and the organizers are looking at technology solutions to make networking easier by offering virtual lounges, one-to-one networking, and “bird of the same feather” sessions, and are also looking at extending the networking opportunities beyond TiEcon.
“Keeping up with our 28 years of TiEcon tradition, we are absolutely thrilled to honor these titans of industry and technology on the grand-stage.”, AGK Karunakaran, President, TiE Silicon Valley said through the press release.
Featuring more than 200 speakers and 100 virtual exhibitors, TiEcon 2021 expects to draw in 10,000 global attendees at the three-day event. Participants immerse themselves in the latest technology trends and hear from outstanding entrepreneurs and visionary leaders.
Kanwal Rekhi, managing director, Inventus Capital Partners, will be the moderator for Ratan Tata.
The attendees will also get the opportunity to listen to Reed Hastings, founder and co-CEO of Netflix; Nikesh Arora, CEO and chairman of Palo Alto Networks; and Navin Chaddha, managing partner, Mayfield Fund, who will be receiving the Venture Capitalist of the Year Award.
TiEcon 2021 will offer multiple tracks focused on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cloud, Security and Health Care.
The conference will also feature sessions specifically relevant to startups, like Mentor Connect, VC Connect, Global Connect, Startup Bootcamp, Young Entrepreneurs, TiE50 Awards, and EXPO Product Showcase.
The one-day Entrepreneurship Bootcamp will take international entrepreneurs through a rigorous program to get them ready for pitching to investors and venture capitalists.
VC Connect and Mentor Connect sessions offer early to mid-stage startup founders a chance to receive valuable, candid, and direct advice from successful Silicon Valley venture capitalists and entrepreneurs.
The TiE50, the coveted awards program for global startups, will screen thousands of applications for TiEcon 2021.
Since its inception, TiE50 startups have gone on to raise over $1 billion in funding. Select winners will also present at the coveted Meet the Drapers show to pitch their ideas to Silicon Valley’s renowned VC family, the Draper
