ISRO’s Aditya L1 successfully performs 2nd earth-bound manoeuvre

Aditya-L1 spacecraft, India’s first solar mission, has successfully performed the second earth-bound manoeuvre, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said on Tuesday, India time. “Aditya-L1 Mission: The second Earth-bound maneuvre (EBN#2) is performed successfully from ISTRAC, Bengaluru. ISTRAC/ISRO’s ground stations at Mauritius, Bengaluru and Port Blair tracked the satellite during this operation. The new orbit attained is 282 km x 40225 km,” ISRO said in a post on ‘X’ in the early hours of Tuesday.

Stampede kills 116 people in India’s Uttar Pradesh, 72 bodies identified

In one of the worst tragedies in recent years, 116 people were killed in a stampede at a religious congregation in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, as devotees suffocated to their deaths and bodies piled atop each other.

Of the 116 bodies, 72 have been identified so far. Post-mortem of the bodies is being held at Agra, Etah, Kasganj and Aligarh districts of the state, officials said. The exact cause of the stampede is still under investigation.
