New York City Mayor Eric Adams unveils Gandhi statue outside Hindu temple after 2022 vandalism incidents

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Indian American State Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar unveiled a new Mahatma Gandhi statue, more than a year after the previous one was vandalized twice outside a Hindu temple in the state. Located in front of Shri Tulsi Mandir on 111th Street in Richmond Hill, the Gandhi statue was knocked over, spray painted with the word “dog”, and battered with a sledgehammer on August 3 and 16, 2022.

The statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, stolen from Guadalupe River Park in San Jose City has been found. Raj Chahal, councilmember of District 2, San Jose, told indica: ”I have good news! The Shivaji statue has been found.” Chahal said he was informed of the discovery by Joseph Hedges, international program manager, City of San Jose Office of Economic Development. It was found at a San Jose metal shop.

CoHNA 3rd Advocacy Day highlights repeated attacks on American Hindu students and temples

Lawmakers, students, researchers, and community leaders came together at the 3rd National Hindu Advocacy Day to discuss the concerns of Hindus living in the US and the rising instances of hate crime. Anti-Hindu hate incidents second-highest among all religious groups in California: Report

The civil rights organization representing the Hindu community of North America called the California Civil Rights Department’s California vs Hate report released May 20 as ‘Concerning’. The religiously-motivated incidents of hate reported via the program hotline set up last year have recorded anti-Hindu hate incidents as second-highest among religious communities in California. Unprecedented security at Indian embassy in Washington for Khalistan rally

The US made unprecedented security arrangements at the Indian embassy in Washington D.C. on Tuesday in view of the demonstration by Khalistan activists, who had used particularly vitriolic language in the run-up to it.
