Sonia Gandhi feels “happy and proud” as daughter Priyanka takes oath as Lok Sabha MP

The longest-serving president of the Indian National Congress, Indian MP Sonia Gandhi beamed with joy and pride as her daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, took oath as the Lok Sabha MP. Priyanka made her entry to the lower house of the Indian Parliament by virtue of her win from Kerala’s Wayanad in the bye-polls recently.

“We are all very happy and proud,” Sonia Gandhi told ANI as Priyanka began her maiden tenure as a Member of Parliament.

India’s Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and former Wayanad Lok Sabha MP, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday, October 23, said that “from now on there will be two MPs from Wayanad”.

“While Priyanka Gandhi will be the official MP, I will be the unofficial MP,” said Rahul Gandhi to a thunderous applause from the mammoth crowd which had come to hear Priyanka Gandhi, who later filed her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, which goes to the polls on November 13.

Supreme Court orders release of six people convicted for Rajiv Gandhi’s murder
