43-year-old Sikh grandmother has been alleged of drowning her newborn grandson and bury him in the backyard of a Bakersfield home in California.

The Superior Court of Kern County told indica, Beant Kaur Dhillon was arrested, February 26, and has been alleged of killing her grandson. She has been charged with felony first-degree murder, assault of a child with force causing great bodily injury, resulting in death.

Dhillon has pleaded not guilty to all charges. She is scheduled for a hearing on March 13.

According to the press release, sent by the Bakersfield Police Department, the heinous crime occurred, November 12, 2018.

Dhillon and 23-year-old Bakhshinderpal Singh Mann, nephew of Dhillon allegedly found her teenage daughter, had given birth to a baby boy in the bathroom of their family home, located in the 5200 block of Shining Crag Avenue in Southwest Bakersfield. Dhillon admitted to police that she then drowned the baby to prevent family shame due to the age of her daughter.

The court documents released shows that hours later, Mann and Dhillon, his aunt, allegedly worked together to dig a hole in the backyard of the home. Mann and Dhillon then placed the baby into the hole, placed salt in the hole, and buried the baby.

Court documents say 47-year-old Jagsir Singh, the father of the girl, was then summoned back to the residence after his wife allegedly killed the baby and placed him in a garbage bag. Court documents say Singh allowed the baby to be buried in the yard in order to hide the baby and the pregnancy. Singh allegedly made no attempt to inform police of the birth or death and did not seek medical treatment for his daughter.

According to the court documents, the parents of the teenage girl did not seek medical treatment for their daughter.

The media report says police learned about the case only after the baby’s mother reported the incident to a third party, who then notified it to the police department.

Singh was also arrested and charged with felony accessory to murder and felony child abuse but was released on bail.

Singh posted bail and was released Wednesday, February 27. The Superior Court of Kern County revealed to indica, that Singh is now out on $50,000 bail and his next appearance in court is scheduled for March 15.

The court official said that Mann has eloped and has not yet been arrested. Mann is wanted by the Bakersfield Police Department for his involvement in the murder. She said Mann has an outstanding arrest warrant for conspiracy and acting as an accessory to a felony after the fact.

According to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office, Mann has been charged with felony accessory to murder.

The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating Mann.

The www.turnto23.com reported Mann was in the United States illegally. He was arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol for illegally entering the country in 2016. In October 2016, ICE released him from custody with a GPS-monitoring device pending removal proceedings before the immigration court.
