Ritu Jha is a veteran award-winning journalist and founder of indica News, an online newspaper based out of California that caters to the needs of the South Asian diaspora in the US.
After working as the Special Correspondent for Rediff Inc. and its newspaper India Abroad in the United States, Ritu realized the need for a platform that could highlight the achievements, issues, and needs of the South Asian community in the US.
And so, started indica News – the voice of the community.
Based in California for the past 10 years, Ritu has been covering not only news stories involving the Indian-American and South Asian community but has also extensively covered a variety of exclusive and breaking news stories and continues to cover in-depth stories today.
Before joining Rediff Inc., she worked with Gannett Publishing’s newspaper The Home News Tribune, a 60,000-circulation daily newspaper in New Jersey where she developed an affinity for reporting on news and cultural events about the South Asian community in the US. She also worked on several municipal beats and covered the local school districts and contributed to breaking news.
Her wide range of reporting experience has prepared her to deal with any situation that arises, whether it’s politics, election coverage, business, technology, immigration, student issues, or community stories.
She worked as a reporter in India before coming to the United States.
