Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sindhu inaugurates US Punjab Investors roundtable 2020

In order to welcome the new era of US India relationship, the US ambassador for India, Taranjit Singh Sandhu delivered a special address at the inaugural session of the USA-Punjab Investors’ Roundtable 2020 on 17 November 2020.

Punjab and the United States have enjoyed a deeper sense of cultural mix compared to any other states in India and it’s all thanks to the host of investments that were allowed tree decades ago.

Along with Ambassador Sandhu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab, Capt. Amarinder Singh also delivered the Presidential address.

The roundtable also included some of the important senior officials of the Government of Punjab, prominent industry representatives, and eminent members of the Indian-American community.

Punjab is a land of opportunities that investors in the US can take advantage of said Ambassador Sandhu in one of his remarks. He layed special emphasis on the strong network of educational, vocational, and scientific institutions in Punjab.

“Punjab and the US can explore complementarities in many sectors such as agriculture & food processing, education, textile & garment, renewable energy, light engineering, pharma and IT,” he said.

He highlighted how Punjab has played a vital role in the growth of the Indian economy in the past few decades.

“For years, Punjab’s industries have proven to be reliable partners, and suppliers, to US giants like Walmart, New Balance, and even food chains, like KFC, Burger King, and McDonald’s.” he said. Ambassador Sandhu applauded the Punjabi community in the US for acting as a bridge between India and the US and reiterated the support of the Embassy in facilitating investments.

The USA-Punjab Investors’ Roundtable 2020, being held from 17-18 November 2020 is organized by the Government of Punjab in coordination with the Embassy of India, Washington D.C., and US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) to showcase Punjab to prospective investors in the US.
