Budget: Sitharaman to present Economic Survey in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Friday

iNDICA NEWS BUREAU-

The Economic Survey, a crucial pre-budget document outlining the state of India’s economy over the past fiscal year, will be presented in Parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 31.

This presentation comes just one day before the highly anticipated Union Budget for 2025-26.

The Survey will be tabled in the Lok Sabha at 12 p.m. and in the Rajya Sabha at 2 p.m. Prepared under the supervision of Chief Economic Advisor V. Anantha Nageswaran, it provides a comprehensive overview of the country’s economic performance and offers projections for the upcoming fiscal year. It also gives early hints about the tone and direction of the Union Budget.

This presentation will kick off the Budget Session of Parliament, which runs from January 31 to April 4, with a break scheduled between February 14 and March 10.

The theme of the Economic Survey, which sets the stage for the Budget proposals, is significant. Last year’s theme was “economic resilience”, reflecting the government’s focus on strengthening the economy.

Before the Union Budget is presented, President Droupadi Murmu will address a joint sitting of Parliament at 11 a.m. on Friday. Following her address, Finance Minister Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Sitharaman will then present the Union Budget on Saturday, February 1, marking her eighth consecutive time doing so. The Budget Session will be held in two phases: the first part will end on February 13, and the second phase will resume on March 10.
