The district spans diverse communities, including the cities of Escondido, San Marcos, and San Diego, as well as the unincorporated areas of Del Dios, Elfin Forest, Fairbanks Ranch, Harmony Grove, Lake San Marcos, and Rancho Santa Fe.

Three Indian scientists have been named as the winners of the Tata Transformation Prize in 2024. Jay, Jyoti Chaudhry’s $4 million grant to help UC first gen students

Indian-American technology entrepreneur Jagtar “Jay” Chaudhry and his wife Jyoti Chaudhry have established the Chaudhry Family Scholarship Fund with a $4 million gift to the University of Cincinnati. This fund will support first-generation, Pell-eligible students in UC’s Gen-11MPACT House, a residential community, a report from www.uc.edu said.

The donation will fund the studies of approximately 150 students at UC, beginning in the fall of 2025.

Renowned Indian composer A R Rahman has received two nominations for the Malayalam movie Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) at the 2024 Hollywood Music in Media Awards.

Indian actor-musician Ayushmann Khurrana, who is all set to tour the U.S. with his music, shared that the concert feels like a homecoming for him, as he used to perform in musicals during college.

On Wednesday, November 13, the ‘Article 15’ actor was spotted at Mumbai Airport, jetting off in style to the U.S. with his band Ayushmann Bhava. The tour will kick off in Chicago on November 14. Ayushmann, along with his band, will tour across four other cities after Chicago, include New York, San Jose, New Jersey and Dallas, until November 24.

Indian-American former FTX executive avoids jail time

An ex-cryptocurrency executive of Indian-origin, who once lived in the same $35 million penthouse in the Bahamas with FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, has been spared jail time by a judge for his role in the $8 billion theft by his jailed former boss.

During a hearing in Manhattan federal court on October 30, District Judge Lewis Kaplan removed prison time, but ordered three years of supervised release for Nishad Singh.

Jhansi Kandasamy has been announced as the Vice President of Regulatory and External Affairs at The Nuclear Company, a fleet-scale nuclear development company. The announcement was made on October 29. The Indian-American has a long history through both the U.S. Women in Nuclear and Women in Nuclear Global nonprofits of broadening the nuclear workforce through both the advancement of women into leadership roles and the recruitment of trades.

“Jhansi has touched on every aspect of nuclear power through her engineering work on reactors, development of public-private partnerships and significant work building up the strong workforce that The Nuclear Company will rely on to build more nuclear power across America,” said The Nuclear Company Chief Development Officer Juliann Edwards, who also serves as chair of U.S. Women in Nuclear.

Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams, who has been in space for nearly five months now, extended her warmest wishes for Diwali to those celebrating the festival in the United States and around the globe.

In a video message shared from the International Space Station (ISS), the NASA astronaut said that this year she had the unique opportunity to observe Diwali from 260 miles above Earth and reminisced about her father’s efforts to keep their cultural roots alive by teaching her and her family about Diwali and other Indian festivals.
