India launches revamped e-Migrate Portal to ensure safe and legal overseas travel for workers

India on Monday launched the revamped e-Migrate portal and mobile app, aimed at facilitating safe and legal overseas travel for its citizens. The initiative seeks to improve the ease of mobility for Indian labor while ensuring their safety and well-being abroad.

Speaking at the launch, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted the government’s commitment to enhance ease of living and promote people-centric governance.

National Payments Corporation of India launches UPI One World for international travelers

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has rolled out the ‘UPI One World’ wallet for all international travelers visiting India. This initiative is designed to provide foreign visitors with a seamless, real-time digital payment experience, making it easier to explore India.

This service is now available to the delegates attending the World Heritage Committee meeting in New Delhi from July 21-31, 2024.

US official calls for one-stop screening with India at aviation summit

A top US aviation security official called for a one-stop security screening arrangement with India to reduce duplication of efforts at both ends for passengers, as part of a broader cooperation between the two countries in civil aviation.

“If we have a one-stop agreement with the government of India and with Delhi airport, we would not need to re-screen … passengers and their check bags would go from aircraft to aircraft in almost every situation,” David Pekoske, head of the US Transportation Security Administration said Tuesday, at the start of a three-day India-US civil aviation summit in Washington DC.

“Climate-friendly” menu at CoP28 environmental meet in Dubai

Perhaps a bit gimmicky but CoP28 will offer what it calls “the first 1.5° C-aligned menu” as part of its objective of making the conference carbon-neutral.

CoP28 or the Conference of Parties is the supreme decision-making body of the United Nations as the world work towards limiting the global temperature rise caused by human-made climate change to 1.5 degrees Celsius above the preindustrial levels.
