iNDICA NEWS BUREAU-

In nearly 280 days, India recorded the lowest number of new Covid-19 cases with just 8,865 on Tuesday, November 16, indicating a sharp decline in the spread of the virus.

This is a piece of welcome news for the people of the country, the government and for those who are looking forward to travel to India.

Especially for people in the US, now it is even more convenient, as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a ‘Level One’ Covid-19 notice for Americans traveling to India.

The CDC in its health travel notice ‘Level One said, “Your risk of contracting Covid-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA (Food and Drug Administration) authorized vaccine.”

In its advisory for India, the State Department urged US citizens not to travel to Jammu and Kashmir due to terrorism and civil unrest, and also within 10 kilometers of the India-Pakistan border due to the potential for armed conflict.

“Indian authorities report rape is one of the fastest-growing crimes in India. Violent crimes, such as sexual assault, has occurred at tourist sites and in other locations,” it said.

In addition to this, on Monday, November 15, the Indian government announced new travel guidelines for travelers to follow additional measures on arrival in India, including post-arrival testing.

The country is opening its borders after almost 18 months. However, only fully vaccinated foreign tourists are to enter the country on regular commercial flights. Tourists entering India must be fully vaccinated, follow all COVID-19 protocols and test negative for the virus within 72 hours of their flight.

Travelers from some countries will have to undergo a post-arrival Covid test at the airport.
