Dr Mohammed Jameel first Indian American to be elected to Long Grove Village Board

Dr Mohammed Jameel was elected as a trustee of the Long Grove Village Board in an election that concluded on April 5, 2023. Jameel who hails from Telangana is the first Indian American to be elected as a trustee to the Long Grove Village Board.

Honored with the Pride of India Award at the India @75 GSA event held in Illinois in 2022 for his services as chairman of the American Democratic Forum. He is an alumnus of the Deccan College of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. Jameel completed his residency at Louisiana State University and he works at North Shore Health Network as an urgent care physician tending to patients diagnosed with Covid-19. Jameel serves on the Board of Directors for ZAM’s Hope Community Resource Center in Chicago and helps to raise funds to aid Covid-affected people. He is an active volunteer at charity organizations and strongly believes in giving back to the communities.

Jameel, who belongs to Warangal tweeted on his historic victory after being elected for a four-year term: “I am humbled to have been elected to serve our community as a Trustee. When I started this endeavor a few years ago, I committed to be a voice for the people and to represent Long Grove in a manner worthy of the trust required of a public servant. I look forward to my term and thank you for all your support.”

Jameel heads the Americans Democratic Forum and he supported the win of the first Indian Muslim candidate Nabeela Syed as an Illinois state representative. He is also the chairman of the Indian Americans Forum.

Speaking at the victory celebrations in Long Grove Jameel thanked his voters in Long Grove and urged the community to increase participation in civic activities, at all levels of the government and build a strong community.
