The GOPIO Chambers of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) hosted a Networking Luncheon Meeting in Manhattan for new technology companies and investors on February 1.
The host for the luncheon program, Braj Aggarwal, a GOPIO Life Member, offered his office conference room for all GOPIO and GCCI seminar sessions. London-based Raj Lakha was the guest speaker at the meeting.
GOPIO International Chairman Dr. Thomas Abraham kicked off the program with a formal welcome and then proceeded to tell participants to become members of GCCI which GOPIO has relaunched. “GOPIO Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) will connect small and medium businesses of the Diaspora locally and internationally, and it is a great opportunity for them to network,” said Dr. Abraham. “As a prelude to the convention, GCCI is providing a platform in different cities for technology startups, entrepreneurs and investors.”
The newly elected GOPIO International President Prakash Shah invited the attendees to the upcoming GOPIO Convention in Brisbane, Australia on March 28-30, 2025 with the theme “The Diaspora’s Role in Shaping Future Technologies.” “It is a great opportunity for Diaspora members to travel to that part of the world and network with our community there,” Shah said. “Conference sessions are being organized within the broader theme, with many of the emerging technologies as session topics including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials, Electronic/Photonic Devices, Pharmaceutical, Food Supplements, Medical Devices, Biomedical Innovations, Energy Generation and Storage Devices, nano-bio-convergence technologies.”
The guest speaker for the afternoon London-based Raj Lakha, is a lead Investor in several technology companies (Holoxica.com, promake.com, unicatchup.com, valenspay.com). Lakha focuses on private equity, corporate finance, Private Public Partnership (PPP) projects. Lakha said that the future of technology is investing in solutions that increase Longevity of Health using innovations in life sciences. “Sectors such as Longevity Medicine, AI, Nanotech, Fintech et al will provide Indian Diaspora community members with opportunities not seen before,” Lakha added.
Lakha offered to support the efforts of Dr. Abraham and Shah by offering the development of a ”GOPIO Bank with debit/credit cards”, ”GOPIO TV online” and to develop the GOPIO Chamber of Commerce office in London. “This will hopefully encourage younger PIOs/NRIs to join GOPIO’,” Lakha added.
