There is much more to Hyderabad than the wafting fragrance of its iconic biriyani, its Dakkhani cadence and the once fabled riches of the Nizam. The 430-year-old city has seen a great deal of history and traveled through four centuries of tumult to emerge as one of India’s two defining information technology hubs along with Bengaluru in the last three decades.
Tracing the remarkable story of Hyderabad with the express purpose of breaking the biriyani stereotype is journalist and writer Dr. Dinesh Sharma’s book ‘Beyond Biriyani: The Making of a Globalised Hyderabad’ published by Westland Books. The book places Hyderabad within a unique eco system that Dr. Sharma argues has been responsible for its rise both as a thriving IT and biotech nerve center of India.
