ICC T20 World Cup: USA handed second loss in Super Eight stage as West Indies post comfortable victory

After a string of impressive performances in the group stage of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup, which saw co-host USA triumph over Pakistan and advancing to the Super Eight stage, the team has been handed its second loss on the trot.

Locking horns with co-hosts West Indies, the US were bundled out for 128 runs in 19.5 overs. In reply, West Indies got the job done in 10.5 overs.

The Caribbean team won the toss and decided to field first.

USA wicket-keeper Andries Gous scored a brisk 29 off 16 balls, to post the highest individual score for his team in the match. Nitish Kumar with 20, Milind Kumar’s 19 and Shadley van Schalkwyk’s 18 helped the team reach its eventual score.

For West Indies, Andre Russell and Roston Chase picked up three wickets each, while Alzarri Joseph chipped in with two scalps. Gudakesh Motie picked up one wicket as the remaining batter was run out.

Coming out to bat, the West Indies batters looked proactive. Shai Hope’s blitzkrieg, tonking eight sixes in his 82-run innings of 39 balls, helped the home team cruise to a comfortable victory.
