American rapper Megan Thee Stallion donned a gorgeous custom gown at the 2022 Oscars designed by an Indian American designer Gaurav Gupta.
The crystal-encrusted blue dress looked stunning on the red carpet as Megan strutted her stuff.
Embellished with sequin stripes, a risqué thigh-high slit, a plunging neckline and a wavey structured skirt, the musician made her Oscars debut in style.
Megan chose a pair of ocean blue glimmering heels by Stuart Weitzman to showcase Gaurav’s dress in all its glory.
The ‘Savage’ rapper opted for Lorraine Schwartz’s incredible silver jeweler to pair up with the frock.
This included a stack of diamond-encrusted bracelets, decadent jeweled earrings and diamond rings.
The rapper’s slicked hair with delicate soft spirals, sharp winged eyes, glossy lips and flawless makeup topped the look off nicely.
Gaurav Gupta has really made a name for himself amongst celebrities. He proclaimed Megan’s custom dress as “The Fantasy Biomorphic Gown”.
Megan Thee Stallion lived up to the name in its entirety as she looked enchanting in front of Hollywood’s elites.
Talking about the dress, Gaurav took to Instagram saying:
“Inspired by a mystical sea creature that transports the red carpet into a fantasy realm. Encrusted with crystals – the strapless gown features a side cutout at the torso, a leg-baring slit and a skirt that flows out in larger-than-life fins that are engineered with the brand’s indigenous sculpting.
“The sculpture took over 1500 man-hours to make.”
Social media went into a frenzy seeing the unique dress with both Gaurav and Megan receiving immense praise.
One fan commented on Instagram: “Knew that was your design as soon as I saw it!”
Another person wrote:

Whilst a third chimed in saying: “So good to see [an] Indian designer at [the] Oscars, so proud.”
Gaurav’s captivating approach to blending Indian detailings and western elegance allows his designs to appeal globally.
Only recently, American rapper Cardi B gravitated towards Gaurav for a sculpted number to rock in the video of ‘No Love’ (2022).
Megan joins Cardi and others including Madhuri Dixit, Jennifer Hudson and Karan Johar who have worn Gaurav’s amazing ensembles.
Not to mention other A-listers like Alia Bhatt, rapper Saweetie and Deepika Padukone.
Undoubtedly, Gaurav Gupta’s status will continue to rise throughout the world if he keeps creating these iconic pieces.
