Indian voices at TechCrunch’s Disrupt 2020 conference

San Francisco-based TechCrunch’s annual conference ‘TechCrunch Disrupt 2020’ starting September 14-18 has lined up several speakers from India.

Byju Raveendran, 39, the Founder and CEO of the world’s most valuable edtech company – BYJU’S, would share his journey and how he has been raising hundreds of million of dollars and as well as buying companies at a time when startups are struggling to raise capital.

Karthik Reddy, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Blume Ventures would highlight the Startup State of India’s Ecosystem, and Ajit Mohan, Vice President and Managing Director, India at Facebook, will speak on Facebook’s Play in its Biggest Market.

TechCrunch is a news website founded in 2005, and focus on technology news, opinions, and analysis on tech companies from around the world. It has made its brand in boosting Startups in recent years through its signature ‘TechCrunch Disrupt’conference it hosts in several US cities and Europe.

Expected to have over 10,000 attendees, from around the world TechCrunch Disrupt 2020, the five days conference will be all virtual non-stop online programming with two big focuses: founders and investors shaping the future of disruptive technology and ideas and startup experts providing insights to entrepreneurs.

BYJU’S is an online tutoring company valued over  $10.8 billion lately gained world’s attention after American venture capitalist Mary Meeker invested an undisclosed amount in BYJU’s that reaches to 5.7 million students in India.

Raveendran would be speaking at the conference on Sept.14 night at 10:30 pm(PDT), on how students learn, through BYJU’s app, and would share with the world about Decoding Decacorn Byju’s Journey and Future Ambitions followed by Q$A.

India-based Raveendran is an entrepreneur by chance and a teacher by choice, he is a two-time Common Admission Test (CAT) topper and National Math Olympiad winner.

Born to teacher parents in Azhikode, Kerala; Raveendran was a self-learner from a young age and used to develop different learning methods to understand concepts better on his own. An avid sportsperson (expert in six games), he believes that children can learn a lot more outside the classrooms by playing multiple games.

Another speaker at the conference Reddy, the Co-founder and Managing Partner at Blume Ventures, will speak on Sept 16, at 10:30 pm (PDT) about Startup State of India’s Ecosystem,  one of India’s leading early stage Venture funds.

Blume focuses on seed to Pre-Series A stages of funding and has made over a 100 investments across its 8 year history across multiple funds. Blume is now investing from Fund III starting 2019.

At Blume, he has led the majority of the investments, and advises and serves on the boards of some of the leading investments at the firm – Servify, Belong, Zopper, Exotel, Grey Orange Robotics, Unacademy, Healthifyme and Railyatri amongst other emerging stars to name a few.

Mohan, Vice President and Managing Director, India at Facebook, will speak on Facebook’s Play in its Biggest Market.

The American social giant Facebook not only reaches 290 millions of users in India but the company has also started writing big checks to Indian firms – not so long ago its $5.7 billion investment in Jio.
