At a recognition ceremony held at the AirPark Campus on January 24, Reinhold Hill, Vice Chancellor and Dean of Indiana University Columbus, announced the recipients of the 2025 Building Community Awards: Debolina Ghosh, Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology at IU Columbus, and Whittney Wood-Gaines, who leads Black History Month activities in Columbus.
The IU Columbus Building Community Awards are presented annually in January, coinciding with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, to honor one campus and one community recipient for their contributions to fostering community.
“We continue to strive to meet many standards Dr. King advocated, particularly in equity and inclusion. The importance of Dr. King’s messages championing systemic equality resonate as strongly today as when he first spoke them,” Hill said.
Ghosh received the Campus Award.
Ghosh has actively served as a faculty facilitator with the Institute for Engaged Learning and the Center for Teaching and Learning in the Equity Champion program. In this role, she collaborates weekly with faculty from various IU campuses to develop strategies for creating safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments for students.
Her dedication to promoting equity and inclusion was recently acknowledged with the Distinguished Counselor Educator Award from the Indiana Counseling Association and the Building Bridges Award from Indiana University.
