As the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) decade-long rule in Delhi draws to a close, former Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal has accepted the election results with humility, congratulating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on their victory.
In a video address, Kejriwal acknowledged the people’s mandate, urging the BJP to fulfill the promises they made during the campaign.
“We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP for this victory and I hope they will fulfil all the promises for which people have voted for them,” said Kejriwal, who led AAP’s governance in the national capital for the past 10 years.
Reflecting on AAP’s tenure, Kejriwal highlighted the party’s work in key sectors like health, education, and infrastructure, emphasizing that AAP’s vision was never about power but about serving the people. “We have done a lot of work in the field of health, education, infrastructure in the last 10 years. We will not only play the role of a constructive opposition but will also remain among the people and continue to serve them. We did not come into politics for the sake of power, we considered politics as a medium through which the people could be served,” he added.

Despite AAP’s contributions, the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections have shifted the political landscape, with the BJP poised to reclaim power in the capital after a 27-year gap.
According to the latest updates from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJP is leading on 47 seats, having already won 15 and is ahead in 32 others. AAP is trailing with 23 seats, having secured 11 wins and is leading in 12.
Congress, in contrast, has once again failed to secure a seat in the Delhi elections for the third consecutive time.
The BJP’s victory is widespread across several constituencies, with notable wins in Shalimar Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Tri Nagar, Rajinder Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Greater Kailash, Patparganj, and Gandhi Nagar. AAP’s victories are focused in areas like Kondli, Delhi Cantt, Sultanpur Majra, Sadar Bazar, Chandani Chowk, Ballimaran, Tilak Nagar, Tughlaqabad, and Babarpur.
Voter turnout for the February 5th election was recorded at 60.54%, and the mood outside BJP’s headquarters in New Delhi is jubilant.
BJP supporters and workers are already celebrating the party’s anticipated return to power after years in opposition. Firecrackers are bursting, and the atmosphere is filled with music and dancing as party workers celebrate the electoral success.
The BJP’s win signals a major shift in Delhi’s political scene, while Kejriwal’s AAP has vowed to continue serving as a constructive opposition, staying closely connected with the people of Delhi.
With the BJP set to form the next government, all eyes will now be on the promises made during the campaign, as the people of Delhi look to see if the BJP can deliver on its commitments after over two decades in the political wilderness.
