Celebrated Bharat Natyam and Kuchipudi dancer, activist, and occasional actor Mallika Sarabhai has just released her memoir ‘In Free Fall: My Experiments with Living”.
The book offers a compelling glimpse into the lives of one of India’s most consequential families, the Sarabhais of Ahmedabad, and with that as the backdrop, into the life of Mallika Sarabhai.
Growing up under the remarkably high achieving parents, the pioneering space scientist and institution builder Dr Vikram Sarabhai, and the iconic and innovative danseuse Mrinalini Sarabhai, Mallika was surrounded by an eclectic mix of cultural, artistic, academic and Gandhian influences, all of which she imbibed.
To get a flavor of what that part bohemian but fully urban liberal artistic life has been, Mayank Chhaya Reports spoke to Dr. Sarabhai, who holds a Ph.D. in organizational behavior.
