Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella expressed his excitement on Sunday, January 26, about the strengthening relationship between India and the United States.
Nadella highlighted the shared democratic values that bind the two nations. Speaking at the 76th Republic Day celebration in Seattle, organized by the Indian Consulate, he emphasized the importance of this growing bond.
“Looking forward, I am, again, very thrilled to see the bonds between the two countries continue to grow, both because of the community here, but also because of the shared bonds of being two democracies that are grounded in their constitutions,” Nadella said.
He added that the key to success lies in leaders serving all their constituents, and that technology plays a crucial role in helping them fulfill their responsibilities.
“I think what happens at the end of the day is people who get elected have to serve all the constituents and to us to have the privilege to build technology that allows these leaders to then pursue what then gets them elected is perhaps the best virtual cycle of a democracy,” he added.
Nadella expressed his hope that both countries will serve as role models, working in their best interests to create a global example for others to follow.
Earlier this month, Nadella unveiled a $3 billion investment aimed at enhancing AI and cloud infrastructure in India. This initiative is designed to foster AI innovation in the country and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation (Viksit Bharat) by 2047.
Additionally, Microsoft plans to train and equip 10 million people with AI skills by 2030, building on the 2.4 million Indians already empowered through AI training, including civil servants, college students, and people with disabilities.
