The 119th U.S. Congress, which was formally started on Friday, January 3, comprises a record number of four Hindu lawmakers.
According to reports, Only 14 lawmakers have identified themselves as non-Christians or non-Jewish. All 14 of them are Democrats.
The four Hindu lawmakers are Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ro Khanna, Shri Thanedar and 38-year-old Suhas Subramaniam, who is also one of the youngest politicians in the country currently.

Pramila Jayapal, who is the only Indian American woman elected to the House of Representatives, hasn’t specified her religion. The seniormost of the Indian American lawmakers, 59-year-old Dr Ami Bera, has identified himself as a Unitarian.
Hindus, however, aren’t the only minorities. Apart from the four Hindus, the new Congress also welcomed four Muslims, three Buddhists and three Unitarian Universalists lawmakers.
While Christianity is the dominant religion in the U.S. Congress, Jews, comprising 31 individuals, makeup 6% of the members.
