iNDICA NEWS BUREAU-
Republican Vivek Ramaswamy is set to officially launch his campaign for Ohio governor on February 24 in his hometown of Cincinnati, with additional campaign events scheduled over the following days in Columbus, Toledo, and Cleveland, The Associated Press reported.
Ramaswamy, a 39-year-old biotech entrepreneur and 2024 presidential candidate, will kick off his highly anticipated bid at Cincinnati’s CTL Aerospace Inc.
He will then head to New Albany, near Columbus, later that evening for a speech at Axium Packaging, according to a campaign source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
On February 25, Ramaswamy will continue his tour with events at the Glass City Center in Toledo and The Local Bar in Strongsville, a Cleveland suburb.
Ramaswamy is entering the GOP primary race to succeed term-limited Governor Mike DeWine.
He will face off against Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Heather Hill, a former member of the state’s Martin Luther King Commission. Former Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, widely seen as a frontrunner, dropped out of the race last month after being appointed to the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by Vice President JD Vance, a long-time friend of Ramaswamy’s from their days at Yale Law School.
On the Democratic side, former Ohio Health Director Dr. Amy Acton is running for governor.
Despite lacking political or government experience, Ramaswamy has gained early support, securing endorsements from two key Republican statewide officials: Secretary of State Frank LaRose and Treasurer Robert Sprague.
Ramaswamy is also scheduled to speak at 30 county Republican dinners this spring, with the events running from March 3 to May 22.
