With an eye on the 2024 elections, the Republican Party has launched the Republican Hindu and Indian American Coalition. Spearheading the move to woo Indian American voters is the Founding Chairman of the Republican Hindu Coalition, Shalabh “Shalli” Kumar.
“Republicans stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Hindu and Indian American families and I am excited to announce this important coalition, alongside Shalli, to build upon our historic investments in Hindu and Indian American communities,” said Republican National Committee (RNC) chairwoman Ronna McDaniel while announcing the launch of the coalition.
“We celebrate the contributions of the Hindu and Indian American community at large for strengthening America as entrepreneurs, tech innovators, physicians, IT professionals, owners of hundreds of thousands of small businesses, and service members,” she added.
The new coalition will focus on expanding the outreach of the party to the Indian American community for the 2024 elections and to increase the Republicans’ bond with the Hindu and Indian American communities across the US.
“I am honored to serve on the RNC’s Hindu and Indian American Coalition, to continue my work alongside Chairwoman McDaniel to convert a large number of Hindu and Indian American voters permanently from Democrat to Republican and also strengthen the bond between the United States and India,” said Kumar.
Kumar, Chairman of the Indian American Advisory Council of the House Republican Conference of the US Congress, is the founding Chairman of RHC with Speaker Newt Gingrich as its Honorary Chairman. RHC’s founding members are some of the most successful businessmen in the United States of America. He is a Punjabi industrialist based in Chicago, Kumar came to the United States for academic pursuits in 1969 and went on to found the AVG Group of Companies, which designs and manufactures electronic components and products supplied worldwide.
He has also founded the National Indian American Public Policy Institute (NIAPPI), a think tank focusing on issues relevant to Indian Americans and the Republican Hindu Coalition. Kumar is known for playing a crucial role in Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
