Rhea Chakraborty arrested, case against Sushant Singh’s sisters

India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty after three-days of interrogation while the Mumbai police filed against the sisters of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput Tuesday.

Rhea was the girlfriend of Sushant, who died in June, apparently by suicide.

His family have alleged foul play and accused Rhea, who, in turn, had filed a case against his sisters and a doctor for allegedly giving Sushant medicines that fall under the ambit of India’s anti-narcotics laws.

Rhea has been charged under sections of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, while the case against Sushant’s sisters accuses them of abetment to suicide.

Rhea will be taken for a medical test shortly is likely to be produced before a magistrate through video-conferencing for remand.

The NCB had interrogated Rhea for six hours Sunday, eight hours Monday and again for around five hours Tuesday before placing her under arrest.

Rhea’s arrest came three days after her brother Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s home manager Samuel Miranda, and his house helper Dipesh Sawant were arrested and sent in NCB custody till September 9 (Wednesday), besides two other drug peddlers Abdel Basit Parihar and Zaid Vilatra, who are also in NCB custody.

In the case filed by Rhea in Mumbai, an offense has been registered against Sushant’s sisters Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh, Delhi-based doctor Tarun Kumar and others, an official was quoted as saying.
