India, US discuss strategic and defense priorities at 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue

India and the US discussed bilateral strategic and defense priorities and regional and global issues at the 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue in Delhi on Monday, September 16.

“India and the US held the 2+2 Intersessional today with officials from India’s Ministry of External Affairs and Defence, and the U.S. State and Defense Departments. Key discussions covered bilateral strategic and defense priorities, alongside regional and global issues,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated in a post on X.

As the fifth India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialog begins in New Delhi, the United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken has described the partnership between the two countries as the “strongest ever.” “It is always wonderful to be here in India. We are building a remarkable year of engagement…We have not only the strongest bilateral partnership we’ve ever had, but also a regional one, and indeed, a global one that was further evidenced by India’s leadership for the G20 this year,” Blinken said.

Antony Blinken to visit India for 2+2 Ministerial Dialog this month

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will embark on a five-nation visit, concluding with India to participate in the 2+2 Ministerial Dialog in November, the State Department informed in a statement. Blinken will be visiting Israel, Jordan, Japan, South Korea and lastly, India. During his visit to India, Blinken will be accompanied by US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin. The US delegation will meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other senior Indian officials to discuss both bilateral and global concerns and developments in the Indo-Pacific.

25% American adults suspect they have undiagnosed ADHD, new study shows

While attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder — also known as ADHD — is typically thought of as a childhood condition, a new study on Monday showed that one in four or 25% of adults in the U.S. suspect they may have it but is undiagnosed.

The study based on a national survey of 1,000 American adults showed that social media videos helped adults to realize that their struggles with attention, focus, and restlessness could, in fact, be undiagnosed ADHD.

US, India announce $2 million grant for AI and quantum technology research projects

The US and India have announced grants of over $2 million for joint research projects aimed at advancing artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technologies for social good. A total of 17 projects, 11 focusing on AI and 6 on quantum technologies, will receive nearly $120,000 each. India to procure $4bn predator drones, develop 2 nuclear-powered submarines to beef up defense prowess

India will soon procure 31 MQ-9B Predator drones from the U.S. and develop two indigenous nuclear-powered submarines. Indian government’s Cabinet Committee on Security, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved these initiatives to improve India’s defense capabilities, especially in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.

The drone deal, valued at $3.99 billion, is set to strengthen India’s maritime and territorial security, while the submarines will bolster the Indian Navy’s presence in the Indo-Pacific region. India will purchase two variants of the General Atomics MQ-9 unmanned aircraft: 16 SkyGuardian and 15 SeaGuardian high-altitude, long-endurance drones.
