Indian national Nikhil Gupta, accused in alleged plot to kill Khalistani separatist Pannun, extradited to US from Czech Republic

Nikhil Gupta, an Indian national who is accused of being involved in the alleged failed murder plot of India-designated pro-Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in New York City, has been extradited from the Czech Republic to the US to stand trial, NBC News reported.

A US District Court spokesperson said Gupta is scheduled to appear in the lower Manhattan courthouse on federal murder-for-hire charges Monday, June 17, the Amercian broadcaster said.

The graffiti contained threats ahead of the Republic Day parade on January 26 with claims that SFJ aims to “avenge” the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

India: Additional security at Delhi, Punjab airports after Khalistani group SFJ’s threats

India’s Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has ordered extra security checks for Air India flights in Punjab and Delhi airports after a threat received from the outlawed separatist Khalistani group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ). On November 5, SFJ founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a designated terrorist in India, gave a call to the global Sikh community to “stop flying Air India” from November 19.

India on Tuesday rejected claims by the Canada government that it had an involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Terming them as “absurd and motivated” the external affairs ministry in a statement said, “We have seen and reject the statement of the Canadian Prime Minister in their Parliament, as also the statement by their Foreign Minister. Allegations of Government of India’s involvement in any act of violence in Canada are absurd and motivated.”

Canada: Indian community waves Tricolour outside consulate countering pro-Khalistani protesters

Members of the Indian community holding the Tricolour, gathered outside the Indian consulate in Toronto in Canada on Saturday to protect their diplomats and the consulate office and countered a pro-Khalistan protest in Canada’s Toronto. Indian diaspora members were seen raising slogans such as “Bharat Mata ki jai”, “Vande Mataram”, “Long Live India” and “Khalistan Murdabad”, and carried placards with “Khalistani are not Sikh”, and “Canada stop supporting Khalistani Canadian terrorists”.

US condemns Khalistani vandalism and arson at San Francisco consulate

The US has strongly condemned the reported vandalism and attempted arson by pro-Khalistan supporters against the Indian Consulate in San Francisco on Sunday (local time).

“The US strongly condemns the reported vandalism and attempted arson against the Indian Consulate in San Francisco on Saturday. Vandalism or violence against diplomatic facilities or foreign diplomats in the US is a criminal offense,” US state department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a tweet on Monday.
