Senate votes to advance Kash Patel’s FBI Director nomination

iNDICA NEWS BUREAU-

FBI Director-nominee Kash Patel made progress in his Senate confirmation process on Tuesday, February 18, with a procedural vote that passed 48-45 along party lines.

Republicans are confident that Patel, selected by President Donald Trump, will be confirmed later this week.

The vote initiated a 30-hour debate period before Patel is expected to receive final approval on Thursday, February 20.

During his Senate confirmation hearings on January 30, Patel emphasized his firm stance against violence, particularly in relation to the January 6 Capitol Riots.

He stated that any act of violence against law enforcement should be thoroughly investigated, prosecuted, and punished.

Patel also reiterated his commitment to exposing government corruption, calling public service a privilege and vowing to hold officials accountable.

If confirmed, Patel, who has praised FBI agents as “courageous, apolitical warriors of justice,” will serve a 10-year term as one of the nation’s top law enforcement leaders.

Patel previously served as Chief of Staff at the Department of Defense (DoD) and as Deputy Assistant to President Trump, where he led significant counterterrorism efforts, including the elimination of senior Al-Qaeda and ISIS leaders and the safe repatriation of American hostages.
