British-American sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar is set to represent India as a presenter at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles this Sunday, February 2,marking yet another proud moment for Indian talent on the global stage.
This comes on the heels of comedian Vir Das hosting the 2024 Emmy Awards, showcasing India’s growing influence in international entertainment.
In addition to her presenting role, Anoushka has earned two Grammy nominations this year for her albums Ch II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn and A Rock Somewhere, bringing her total nominations to 11.
The accomplished daughter of legendary Indian composer and sitarist Ravi Shankar, Anoushka expressed her excitement on Instagram, sharing her gratitude for the honor of representing India at such a prestigious event.
“Eeeeeeee I have news! What a thrill to be asked to serve as a presenter at the 67th #GRAMMYPremiere Ceremony this Sunday! The last time I presented was in 2016 – an extraordinary day, not only because I was nominated for my 5th Grammy for my classical album ‘Home,’ but also because I was the first Indian musician ever to present at the ceremony. Although so much has changed (personally and globally) over the last nine years, I find myself once again in the wonderful position of representing India on the global stage,” she shared on Instagram.
“I’m also proud to be nominated this year for my latest album ‘Ch II: How Dark It is Before Dawn’ and my featuring role on Jacob Collier’s ‘A Rock Somewhere’ – my 10th and 11th Grammy noms respectively! Let’s see what happens on Sunday 👀
“Watch the ceremony live on LIVE.GRAMMY.com at 3:30 PM ET / 12:30 PM PT- happy to say that the ceremony will raise additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts. See you there!” he post concluded.
The 67th Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angeles on February 2, with the ceremony also raising funds for wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery of first responders who have risked their lives battling the flames.
