Former Uber and Apple executive Vineet Khosla will be joining The Washington Post as Chief Technology Officer, starting July 31. In his new role, Indian American Khosla will serve as a senior advisor to the CEO and will lead The Post’s engineering team and innovation strategy, helping to drive the company’s overall vision for its technology goals.
Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, is all set to launch an app on Thursday titled ‘Threads’, aimed at being an alternative to Twitter. According to Apple’s App Store preview in the US, the app is expected to launch on July 6, and will be available for download for users.

With Tata Electronics now hogging the limelight for iPhone manufacturing in India, industry experts on Monday said that with their ambition on semiconductors and EVs, it only makes sense for the Tata Group to gain expertise in manufacturing high-end iPhones in the country. Currently, iPhone 12 and iPhone SE (second generation) are being manufactured/assembled at Taiwan-based iPhone manufacturer Wistron’s Karnataka factory, which Tata Electronics is set to take over soon.
India’s communications, electronics and information technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who is currently visiting Silicon Valley with his team, had a series of closed- door meetings with Stanford University professors to chip-making corporates Intel and Applied Materials as well as with IT-based industry leaders and venture capitalists.
Apple set a quarterly record in the January-March 2023 period in India and grew very strong, in double digits year-over-year, said Tim Cook, the company’s CEO who was in India last month to open the first branded retail stores in Mumbai and New Delhi.
