Justice Markandey Katju: India will provide leadership to the world in 21st century

Justice Markandey Katju writes: The 21st century will be characterised as the century in which the historical peoples’ struggles all over the world will be fought out to a conclusion, resulting in creation of a new world order, free of these evils. India (in which is included Pakistan and Bangladesh, for we are really one country only temporarily and artificially divided by that British swindle called Partition), will be giving leadership to the world in this century. Let me explain.

Justice Markandey Katju: India, the sleeping giant, will awake

Justice Markandey Katju: My country India (in which I include Pakistan and Bangladesh, for we are really one country, only artificially separated, but which are sure to reunite one day), will one day awaken from its long slumber, and emerge as a modern, highly industrialised giant, with its people enjoying a high standard of living and decent lives, and take its rightful place among the comity of nations.

Rahul Gandhi’s conviction and Indian democracy

Opposition parties in India have joined hands and are crying themselves hoarse in condemning Rahul Gandhi’s conviction and expulsion from Parliament as a huge assault on democracy. Many of the ‘liberal’ media persons and so called ‘intellectuals’ in India have also joined the chorus condemning the ‘murder’ of Indian democracy. One sees hardly any other news in the Indian media nowadays.

Justice Katju: Seattle bans caste discrimination

Recently, the city of Seattle in the USA. banned caste discrimination.

This appeared silly to me. So I put up this satirical post on my Facebook page: “Seattle, a city in the USA, has banned caste discrimination. I think it is an excellent idea and should be emulated in India. Our Parliament should follow suit by enacting laws banning poverty, hunger, unemployment, disease, price rise, caste, communalism, and corruption. etc. After all, making laws will end these evils.”

Emperor Ashoka’s 12th Major Rock Edict

”Thus, saith his Sacred and Gracious Majesty the King: The beloved of the Gods (Devanaam Priya) King Piyadassi, honors all religions. Religions other than one’s own should also be honored, and the essentials of all religions should be promoted. If one acts thus, he promotes his own religion and benefits other religions too.If one acts otherwise, he hurts his own religion and hurts other religions too. One should not extol and glorify his own religion while disparaging the religion of others, for by doing so he diminishes the value of his own religion. Whoever disparages the religion of others while extolling and glorifying his own, harms his own religion grievously. Therefore, concord is commendable.”

Justice Katju: Indian subcontinent’s current historical situation

Justice Katju says: Today, there seems to be total confusion in the Indian subcontinent. No one understands what is going on, where are we heading to, and what is to be done? Even the patriotic people who genuinely want to help the country (and I regard India, Pakistan as one country, only temporarily separated by that historical British swindle called Partition, but are sure to reunite one day) are bewildered.
