In order to prevent fraud and abuse in the annual H-1B visa registration process, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) proposed a new rule on October 20 that will ensure a person’s name is entered into the selection process only once, regardless of the number of registrations.

70 Indians suing US govt for denying them H-1B visas: Report
Nearly 70 Indian nationals have filed a lawsuit against the US government for denying them H-1B visas because of fraud committed by their employers, a report by Bloomberg Law said. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) denied the Indian graduates H-1B specialty occupation visas despite their subsequent employment at legitimate businesses, a lawsuit filed in federal district court in Washington state said this week.
H-2B visas open for late second half returning workers for FY 2023
The US will begin accepting petitions for H-2B visa workers for the late second half of fiscal year 2023 under the supplemental cap temporary final rule, the federal agency for immigration services announced. Under this rule, which was announced in December last year, there are 10,000 visas limited to returning workers regardless of country of nationality, for the late second half of fiscal year 2023, that is May 15 to September 30.
USCIS provides guidance for laid off H-1B workers in response to FIIDS
“When nonimmigrant workers are laid off, most individuals facing job loss already have several options in order to remain in the United States while continuing their job search past 60 days,” said the USCIS Director Ur M. Jaddou in a written response to a letter sent by the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies USA (FIIDS) on Feb 27.
