To watch any Satyajit Ray movie is to watch his meticulous attention to detail. To watch his 1963 classic Mahanagar on his 102nd birth anniversary today is no different.

There is a way to describe my engagement with Ray films. Both in my mother tongue Gujarati and the language I naturally slip into, Hindi, there is an expression for my condition. मुझे सत्यजीत रे की लत पड़ी है. एक तरह से बीमारी है जिसका सिर्फ एक ही इलाज है. उनकी फ़िल्में देखना. (I am addicted to Satyajit Ray. The only cure to that addiction is to watch his films.)

White House releases strategy to uplift Asians, including Indians and other communities

The White House has released its first-ever national strategy to advance equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian-American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities. Senior Biden-Harris administration officials outlined the details of an action plan made by 32 federal agencies to promote safety and equity for Asian Americans, including Indians, and NHPIs at a virtual event on Tuesday, the White House said.

South Asian Literature and Art Festival 2022

The South Asian Literature and Art Festival (SALA) returned in style and with considerable substance on October 29 and 30, 2022 at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, CA, after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The theme of the festival was “Humanity.” As it explored the ways in which the world puts people in boxes, for example by caste, the festival aimed to highlight our shared humanity.
