Justice Markandey Katju: An open letter to all Pakistani military officers

Justice Markandey Katju’s open letter to Pakistani generals. To the Pakistan Army Chief, Gen Munir, all Pak army corps commanders, all Principal Staff Officers, DG ISI, DG ISPR, and all officers of the Pakistan army… Following the incidents consequential to former PM Imran Khan’s arrest, highly belligerent and threatening statements have been made by the Army chief, Gen Munir, and senior officers of the ISI and ISPR.

Justice Markandey Katju: India, the sleeping giant, will awake

Justice Markandey Katju: My country India (in which I include Pakistan and Bangladesh, for we are really one country, only artificially separated, but which are sure to reunite one day), will one day awaken from its long slumber, and emerge as a modern, highly industrialised giant, with its people enjoying a high standard of living and decent lives, and take its rightful place among the comity of nations.

Justice Markandey Katju: Did Pakistan’s loss to England call for an Indian celebration? No!

Justice Markandey Katju says: Many Indians celebrated Pakistan’s defeat by England in the T20 World Cup cricket final on November 13, 2022, as if India had won the Cup. These fools did not understand that India and Pakistan (and Bangladesh) are, in fact, one country, only temporarily divided by the British (the way they divided Ireland, Cyprus, Palestine, etc) by that historical swindle called Partition in 1947, on the basis of the bogus two-nation theory.

Justice Markandey Katju: Pakistan Supreme Court is entirely responsible for nation’s crisis

Justice Markandey Katju says, “On May 2, it was announced that the talks between the ruling PDM and the opposition PTI for agreeing to a fresh date for holding the Punjab Assembly elections in Pakistan have broken down.”

I submit that this crisis and imbroglio can be directly attributed to the Pakistan Supreme Court’s failure to do its duty of upholding the country’s Constitution.

Justice Markandey Katju: How I would have dealt with Pakistan case

Justice Markandey Katju says, Pakistan’s Supreme Court delivered a strong verdict on April 4 that in view of Article 224(2) of Pakistan’s Constitution, elections to a Provincial Assembly must be held within 90 days of its dissolution. Consequently, it struck down the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan postponing the Punjab Assembly elections to October 8, and directed that the elections must be held on May 14. However, thereafter, the Court seems to have developed cold feet, and allowed the matter in court to drag on for over three weeks, and it is still going on.
