Signalling a further souring of bilateral ties, Foreign Minister of Canada Melanie Joly on Monday said an Indian diplomat in the country had been expelled. The expulsion comes in light of PM Justin Trudeau’s statement alleging an Indian hand in the killing of wanted Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Foreign Minister of Canada, Melanie Joly on Tuesday said that her country is in close contact with Indian officials in light of “unacceptable” posters that have appeared in Canada, regarding a pro-Khalistan protest planned for July 8, which bears the names and photos of some top Indian diplomats.
To foster greater diversity among those seeking to work and study in Canada, the government will invest in strengthening the visa processing capacity within the centralised Canadian network as well as in New Delhi and Chandigarh.
