Police have identified the woman who threw a cup of hot coffee at an Indian American man wearing a Palestinian scarf, and his 18-month-old son at a playground in New York last week. Ashish Prashar, 40, was playing with his son at the Edmonds Playground in Brooklyn when the incident occurred on November 7.

Elderly Sikh man dies in New York City after being repeatedly punched; assaulter arrested
An elderly Sikh man hit his head and died after he was punched repeatedly by a 30-year-old man following a car accident in New York City, a media report said. Jasmer Singh, 66, was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens in critical condition where he died of a brain injury a day after he was assaulted on October 19.

Indian American rookie NYPD officer honored with Presidential Medal of Valor
An Indian American NYPD officer was honored with the Medal of Valor by US President Joe Biden on May 17, 2023. The rookie officer was one of the nine public safety officers who got the highest award for 2021-2022. Two of the officer’s seniors, Wilbert Mora and Jason Rivera, were honored posthumously.
