Students in Washington D.C. will now have a chance to learn about the Sikh community with the District of Columbia State Board of Education voting in favor of new social studies standards that will include Sikhi, or the Sikh faith, in the school curriculum.
Virginia has become the 17th state in the US to include Sikhism in their school curriculum.

The resolution, which was passed last week, appreciated the Sikhs for their humanitarian services, despite receiving hate and facing oppression for their faith worldwide.
