She is in the news for being deported from Bangaluru airport after arriving in India to attend a conference. The reason for her deportation is her alleged anti-Indian views, particularly regarding Kashmir.
Justice Markandey Katju writes: Most people have a superficial understanding of events, and do not penetrate the surface to see the underlying realities. To understand what is really going on in Pakistan, one must view it in a broader, world context.
Today, the main contest in the world is between two alliances
(1) The US-Europe alliance, and
(2) The China-Russia alliance.
What is happening in Pakistan is a proxy struggle between these two groupings.
Justice Markandey Katju writes: In his concurring judgment in the case relating to abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul of the Indian Supreme Court, recommended setting up a ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission’ in Kashmir to investigate and report violations of human rights in the state from the 1980s, to heal the wounds. Perhaps Justice Kaul got his idea of setting up such a Commission from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission set up in South Africa in 1995 after the apartheid regime was dismantled.
