Several BJP supporters from the San Francisco Bay Area convened at the iconic Golden Gate Bridge for the ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ march on April 7. The march, organized by the Overseas Friends of BJP-USA, showcased the party supporters’ solidarity for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the collective aspiration of ‘Abki Baar 400 Paar’ in the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024.

India is soon expected to launch the Bharat Semiconductor Research Center, a global standard academia-government-private sector-start-up partnered institution, said Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, on Monday. He said this while making a virtual address at the inaugural session of the All India Research Scholars’ Summit (AIRSS) 2024 at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT).

To promote Indian government’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, California, hosted ‘Craft Bazaar- Indian Handicrafts Expo’ in collaboration with the Association of Indo-Americans (AIA). It is called Maya Bazaar, an annual event that brings in small and medium size businesses to sell and promote their products to thousands of attendees.

Is Pakistan’s Parliament supreme?

Supporters of the ruling PDM ( Pakistan Democratic Movement ) in Pakistan are saying that the verdict of the Pakistan Supreme Court ordering elections to the Punjab Provincial Assembly to be held on 14th May need not be followed, since the Pakistan Parliament,  which is dominated by the PDM ( members belonging to Imran Khan’s PTI have resigned from it ) has by a resolution rejected it, and Parliament is supreme in Pakistan. Is this contention and the resolution of Parliament valid?

Justice Katju: Seattle bans caste discrimination

Recently, the city of Seattle in the USA. banned caste discrimination.

This appeared silly to me. So I put up this satirical post on my Facebook page: “Seattle, a city in the USA, has banned caste discrimination. I think it is an excellent idea and should be emulated in India. Our Parliament should follow suit by enacting laws banning poverty, hunger, unemployment, disease, price rise, caste, communalism, and corruption. etc. After all, making laws will end these evils.”

Justice Katju: How can one be an atheist as well as a bhakt?

I had put up a post on my Facebook page stating that I am an atheist as well as a bhakt of Hanumanji.

Many people commented on it stating that this was a contradiction. How can an atheist be a worshipper? 

In fact, there is no contradiction. As an atheist, I do not worship any supernatural beings like God, angels, soul, etc and I regard all religions as superstitions.

Illinois professor Praveen Kumar leads research on untapped freshwater sources

An Indian American professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is leading pathbreaking research into sources of freshwater. The study, led by civil and environmental engineering professor and Prairie Research Institute executive director Praveen Kumar, evaluated 14 water-stressed locations across the globe for the feasibility of a hypothetical structure capable of capturing water vapor from above the ocean and condensing it into fresh water – and do so in a manner that will remain feasible in the face of continued climate change.
