ICAI launches Arizona chapter, to expand presence in US

With an aim to expand its footprint in the US, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) inaugurated its eighth overseas chapter in Arizona on March 31, 2023.

This is the 45th overseas chapter of ICAI globally and one of the three new chapters in the US that had been announced by the ICAI president, CA. Aniket Sunil Talati. The other two are scheduled to be opened in Seattle and Ohio.

Assemblymember Kalra introduces the Stable Homes Act to keep families in their homes, preserve affordable housing

Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) introduced AB 919, the Stable Homes Act, on February 14 to give tenants, local public agencies, and mission-driven nonprofits a first opportunity to purchase or match an offer on rental housing properties when owners choose to put them up for sale. AB 919 is sponsored by California Reinvestment Coalition, Housing California, and Public Advocates.

Washington DC judge dismisses Hindu American Foundation defamation suit against Hindus for Human Rights

The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) has lost a defamation case it brought against Hindus for Human Rights (HfHR) in May 2021 in Washington DC. The lawsuit was filed at the District Court for the District of Columbia by HAF against HfHR after two online articles were published by the online division of Qatar-headquartered Al Jazeera Media Network.
