The Indian IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is on the verge of signing a whopping $50-billion contract of the US Government’s National Institute of Health (NIH).
Even if a part of the contract is won by TCS, this will enable the software exporter to compete in a massive market for US federal reserve technology procurement.
The Indian IT services major is in the race to bid for 75 to 125 contracts, named the Chief Information Officer-Solutions and Partners 4 (CIO-SP4) through its American subsidiary Tata America International Corporation, according to a report by Economic Times.
The CIO-SP4 is one of the largest technology procurement vehicles for the US government which seeks to acquire general, health IT, and biomedical research across 10 Task Areas.
The request for proposal of the CIO-SP4 seeks a wide range of IT solutions and services, including for health, biomedical, scientific, administrative, operational, managerial, and information systems, as well as general IT services for Biomedical Research, Health Sciences, and Healthcare, Chief Information Officer (CIO) Support, Digital Media, Outsourcing, IT Operations and Maintenance, Integration Services, Cybersecurity, Digital Government and Cloud Services, Enterprise Resource Planning, and Software Development.
NIH’s NITAAC is the agency tasked to acquire information technology services, solutions, and commodities from pre-qualified vendors at lower than open-market prices in less time than going the traditional full and open route.
TCS will announce its second-quarter results on Friday kicking off the earnings season of large IT companies in India.
The Tata Group flagship company is the second-largest IT services company in the world with a revenue of $22.17 billion in fiscal 2021, second to Accenture which reported annual revenue of $50.5 billion in the same period.
