TiE Silicon Valley high school team places 3rd in global competition

A TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) Silicon Valley team, xRGlove, won third place at the 2019 TYE Global Final Competition held at MIT, in Cambridge, Mass., last month, according to TiE Silicon Valley (TiE SV).

The team was awarded for their idea of monitoring sanitization at restaurants and fast-food locations, according to a TiE SV media release.  Twenty-five teams from around the world participated in this global competition from June 20-21.

The competition included a pitch fest, demonstration of prototypes and elevator pitches, TiE SV said in its release. Teams were recognized in each of the individual areas, and the judges selected three winning teams across the entire cohort. : First place winner was Coastline Wrapping (TiE Vancouver), second place was Mediscan (TiE Oregon) with third place going to xRGlove (TiE Silicon Valley).

Suhas Patil, TiE founder and MIT alumnus, presented the awards to the winning teams, according to TiE SV. Desh Deshpande, Nitin Rai, Vinit Nijhawan, Nilanjana Bhowmick, and Vanita Shastri also met the winners.

Srini Madala, TiE SV charter member and chair of youth programs, said, “TYE is able to draw youthful energy to the Chapter with support for young high schoolers and their startup endeavors from parents, instructors, coaches, entrepreneurs, and charter members, and build a thriving community of different generations around the Chapter. It is essential to support this program which will have a great impact on our future generations.”
