iNDICA NEWS BUREAU-

A top Twitter executive of Indian origin, Sandeep Pandey, has quit the social media platform at a time when the firm is enmeshed in a legal battle with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his move to acquire the company.

Pandey who was the vice president of engineering has announced his decision to resign after being associated with Twitter for more than 10 years. He used to head the central machine learning, data science, and data platform at the social media platform. Pandey’s next professional destination is Meta which was known as Facebook earlier.

Before starting his professional journey at the IBM India Research Lab and Google, Pandey used to study at Carnegie Mellon University. Before joining Twitter he had worked as a research scientist at Yahoo.

After Musk changed his mind after announcing his decision to take over Twitter in a $44 billion deal, several top executives of Twitter resigned. Katrina Lane, former VP of Twitter service; Ilya Brown, VP of Health; and Max Schmeiser, head of data science are among those who put in their papers.

Twitter also contributed to the list of exits when in the name of reorganizing its workforce, it retrenched 30% of its employees from its talent acquisition team and also fired Kayvon Beykpour, former head of product, and Bruce Falck, former head of product revenue.

The Twitter-Elon Musk legal tussle is scheduled to come up for a five-day trial from October 17. Both parties have been trading accusations as Musk accused Twitter of misleading investors by miscalculating fake and spam accounts while the social media giant rebutted that Musk was looking to back out after initially proposing the $44 billion deal.
