indica News Bureau –
Former US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, a Sikh born to Indian American parents, has been rumored to be under consideration by President Donald Trump to replace Vice President Mike Pence as his running mate on the Republican ticket for 2020 presidential election. The president says it’s not true.
Trump, during an interview on “Fox & Friends” last week, dismissed the rumors he might dump Pence and added praise for Haley.
“She is a friend of mine. She endorsed me with the most beautiful endorsement you’ve ever heard,” Trump said during the Fox interview. “She did a great job at the U.N.”
Seen by some as a potential 2024 candidate for the U.S. presidency, Haley, born Nimrata Randhawa in South Carolina, served as ambassador under Trump from January 2017 to December 2018, was governor of South Carolina from January 2011 to January 2017, and in recent months has been strongly defending Trump.
