An Indian national is among four people nabbed by U.S. immigration authorities on charges related to sexual assault.

Jaspal Singh, 29, was apprehended on January 29 in Tukwila, Washington, according to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

He is facing charges of “assault with sexual motivation,” the ICE statement said.

The other three individuals arrested are Pedro Garcia-Lopez, 47, of Mexico, Rubi Jeronimo Cruz, 22, of Guatemala, and Manuel De Jesus Zavala-Martinez,40, of El Salvador. All four are currently in ICE custody and will remain there as they await removal proceedings.

“Protecting our communities, and preventing further victimization is of paramount importance to ICE throughout the Pacific Northwest,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Seattle Field Office Director Drew H. Bostock. “These arrests reinforce the message that the presence of illegal criminal threats will not be tolerated.”

Under President Donald Trump’s administration, immigration policies became more aggressive, with a focus on deporting undocumented immigrants and tightening security at the US southern border.

Since his inauguration, over 8,000 arrests have been made by federal immigration authorities.
