Addressing the summit in Gujarat’s capital Gandhinagar, PM Modi referred to the next 25 years as ‘Amrit Kaal’, a critical phase in India’s development journey.
“India, having recently completed 75 years of Independence, is now geared towards its next major milestone. We aim to be recognised as a developed country when we mark a century of Independence,” he said.
The 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, launched in 2003 during Modi’s tenure as the state’s chief minister, saw participation from over 100 countries, reflecting its global stature and significance in fostering international business and diplomatic relations.
PM Modi emphasized India’s rapid economic growth, saying, “A decade ago, India ranked 11th globally in economic size. Today, we stand at the 5th position and are poised to enter the top 3.”
He assured the attendees of India’s focus on critical sectors such as AI, innovation, green hydrogen, and semiconductors, with visible progress showcased in the trade show. He also highlighted structural reforms undertaken to ensure sustainable growth.
“I assure you, dream big, as I have the resolve to fulfill those aspirations,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the significance of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s participation in the summit.
“The presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed as the chief guest is not just a matter of honor but also symbolizes the robust and growing ties between India and the UAE,” PM Modi remarked.
He credited the UAE for its substantial role in India’s development and mentioned the strengthened relationships with African nations during his tenure.
PM Modi revealed that agreements worth billions of dollars had been signed with companies from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for new investments in India’s port infrastructure.
PM Modi said, “Agreements have been signed for new investments worth billions of dollars in India’s port infrastructure by companies from the UAE.”
These agreements are poised to bring transformative changes to India’s maritime landscape, foster economic growth and enhance global trade connectivity.
In his address, the Prime Minister acknowledged the challenging global circumstances but highlighted India’s remarkable economic resistance and growth momentum.
He attributed this success to a decade of focused structural reforms, stating, “We are all aware of the global circumstances. So, in times like these, if the Indian economy is displaying such resistance, if the growth in India is showing such momentum, a big reason behind this is our focus on structural reforms in the last 10 years. These reforms have enhanced the capacity, capability and competitiveness of India’s economy.”
Underscoring the emergence of India as a voice for the Global South, PM Modi said that the world looks at the nation as an important pillar of stability.
“The world looks at India as an important pillar of stability. A friend who can be trusted, a partner who believes in people-centric development, a voice that believes in global good, a voice of the Global South, an engine of growth in the global economy, a technology hub for finding solutions, a powerhouse of talented youth and a democracy that delivers…” PM Modi said.
