Vice President Kamala Harris outlined her vision for a ‘new way forward’ in op-eds published by major Chinese, Filipino, Korean, South Asian, and Vietnamese American news outlets.
“There is so much at stake in this election, and Americans are ready to turn the page on the chaos of the past. You deserve a leader who not only sees you, but stands with you,” she said in a press release issued by Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders for Harris-Walz (AANHPI).
This past week, Vice President Kamala Harris penned a series of op-eds outlining how her vision for a new way forward will deliver for Asian American communities. In the op-eds, Harris underscored the enormous stakes of this election for Asian American voters on key priorities like financial freedom, health care, and safety — and contrasted her plan to build an Opportunity Economy with the dangers of a second Trump term.
To reach this broad coalition of diverse voters where they are, Vice President Harris’ op-eds were published by five major news outlets that serve the Chinese, Filipino, Korean, South Asian, and Vietnamese American communities, including the World Journal, Asian Journal, Yonhap News Agency, The Juggernaut, and Viet Bao Daily News.
The op-eds build on record-breaking investments by Team Harris-Walz to engage with and mobilize Asian Americans, who make up the nation’s fastest-growing voting bloc and are poised to play a pivotal role in this election.
In the final stretch of the presidential race, Team Harris-Walz launched waves of English and in-language mailers and fact sheets;
print, radio, television, and digital ads; and hosted in-person events across every battleground state aimed at these critical voters.
Harris wants to cut taxes, ban price gouging and affordable housing, fight for working families and eliminate taxing tips for service
workers.
She also wants to provide homecare for elders, Medicare for seniors, lower cost of child care and health care, and lower taxes for small business. “Access to healthcare should be a right and not just a privilege,” she said at a rally in Michigan recently.
“We want war to end and get hostages out. Enact 1st corporate ban on price gouging on groceries, so that American families have a place to live. Cover cost of Medicare for seniors in our life who need help because families are struggling financially right now. We bring dignity and values to our leadership,” she said at a rally in Michigan.
“Trump is trying to repeal Obama care and throw millions of Americans out of insurance and Trump’s 20 percent national sales tax will cost $4000 for each family,” she said, while encouraging people to vote for Right to Abortion Initiative Proposition 139 in Arizona.
Trump would deny insurance to people with pre-existing conditions. He wants abortion ban for rape and incest victims — whether the women like it or not.
“Women should not be punished. He does not respect women- we trust women,” she said. “He will put IVF treatments at risk, according to Project 2025,” she informed.
“Trump insults Latinos, scapegoats illegals and will bring family separation policies and it’s time to turn the page on Trump. I have fought against the drug cartels and you should give me a chance to fight against things in my way. Trump will walk in with the enemy list and I with a to-do list in less than 90 days,” she said at the rally.
