India launches international film poster making challenge to celebrate cinematic heritage

India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has teamed up with the National Film Development Corporation – National Film Archive of India (NFDC-NFAI) and Image Nation Street Art, to organize a poster making competition.

Named the International Film Poster Making Challenge, this initiative under the World Audio-Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES), aims to celebrate India’s cinematic heritage on a global scale and foster creativity through poster-making, engaging artists and filmmakers worldwide, an official announcement stated.

The competition is now transcending borders and going international!

The challenge is a unique opportunity to create innovative and visually compelling reimagined film posters to celebrate and promote the rich film poster heritage of India.

The participants will have to submit their Artwork by March 5th 2025.

They can select one of the 10 films for their artwork, which are

1. Neecha Nagar (1946),

2. Pather Panchali (1955),

3. Mother India (1957),

4. Chemmeen (1965),

5. ⁠Pakeezah (1972),

6. Disco Dancer (1982),

7. Salaam Bombay! (1988), ⁠

8. Lagaan (2001),

9. Devdas (2002),

10. The Lunchbox (2013).
